" Word about Irresponsible Shepherds "
by Rev. Lorraine D. Coconato
January 23, 2007
Scriptures: Ezekiel 34: 1-4, 11-17, 22-24, Heb. 12: 3-5, Rev. 2: 5, Romans 2: 4, 16.
Dream: A pastor, a shepherd of the flock of the Lord, stood before a line of people that faced him. It looked as if there was going to be an altar prayer service.
The people before him were family, friends and congregants, all people that he ministered to. (In the dream, I was an observer, standing in the gap, interceding!).
His face changed with the faces of many pastors, some I knew and recognized, others that were unknown to me. He looked like he was smiling, but the smile soon turned to wrath!
He took a step forward toward the people and pulled out from behind him, a big stick with a short whip on the end.
Without notice, he began to hit and whip various ones! The faces of the people, now victims, turned to horror!
I woke up!
What is the Lord saying:
"I speak to shepherds, shepherds that are called by My Name!
I have called you to walk in humility and justice. I have called you to feed My sheep and
carry the cross that I have given to you!
Some of you have walked in an unworthy manner! Some of you have poured vinegar into the wounds of My children!
I will not tolerate partiality among My people. I will not validate the maiming of My people!
I watch and know all things! This is not a judgment but a sign of My infinite mercy and a
token of My everlasting love!
Did I not command My leaders to 'feed My sheep.' Can we take exception to this word of
truth?
Let those who hear, turn from this pathway of destruction and be restored! Let those who
refuse the chastening of the Lord, be removed from their office and another take their place!
The mouth of the Lord has spoken!
Prayer: Father, we are ever mindful of Your new mercies every morning! Ezekiel 34 speaks of the shepherds that have disregarded and mistreated Your people, therefore, Lord, we bring this sensitive matter before You, today and ask for deliverance for those leaders that have walked away from their first love in You! Lord, if some are in positions of leadership in Your Body that are man-appointed, not God-appointed, we ask that You would move them to an appropriate post, where they gifts can be used for Your glory and where they will thrive in the ways of the Lord! Yet, others are called to be 'shepherds with the heart of the Good Shepherd' and we ask that You would strategically place them in offices of effectiveness and faithfulness!
Father, no one is too far from Your reach! Speak, Lord, move, Lord, cleanse, Lord and heal,
dear Lord, Your people, preparing them for the days of Your visitation in Jesus Name, Amen!
