"I Can't Get No Satisfaction!"
by Rev. Lorraine D. Coconato
November 5, 2003

Isaiah 3: 1 says, "For behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stock and the store, the whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water..."

Lev. 26: 26 speaks of the weighing of our bread and after it is eaten, we will not be satisfied!

With the great abundance of bread and blessing that surrounds us, as people and a nation, we have learned to eat the bread of idleness and consume the bread of adversity!

We murmur things like, "If only I had______!" "My life is a waste!" "I never get what I want!" "Everyone in my family is a loser, so I must be a loser, too!" "I'm never happy..." "I'm always hungry...!"

All this time is eaten up by worms, as we meditate on this contaminated manna!

An old rock group of the last century sang this prophecy over previous generations and unfortunately, it stuck and many are engraved with “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction!” There is a visible enslavement to discontent, as even small children join this chorus and sing, “I’m bored!”

We try to fill the voids in our hearts with people, experiences, sensations and things! All the more, the voids persist!

Yet, as we serve Jesus, we can feast on His bread, manna from above! This Bread (the Word of God!) is vitamin-fortified to strengthen us to do all that He has called us to do! The Word, His bread, our daily portion of meat that builds our bodies into strong spiritual houses, will fortify any weak body, heart and mind. Whenever we partake of the delicacies of His Word, we never lack (Proverbs 10: 3, Psalm 37: 25) and we are filled!

If need be, Jesus can turn stones into bread and can multiply our supply, as we petition Him! He is the Bread of Life! (John 6: 48). Feed on Him and be satisfied!

(An eyelet is a small hole for the passage of a lace or cord used to decorate a garment. May our eyes be upon Him, as we let Him be God and lace our lives with cords of His infinite love!)
