"Making Aliyah"
by Rev. Lorraine D. Coconato
May 30, 2006

Scriptures: Isaiah 2: 3; Jeremiah 50: 5

Mountain climbing is an arduous pastime, enjoyed by many throughout the ages! The goal of climbing higher each time one indulges in this sport is reaching new heights and gazing at exquisite vistas that would dazzle the most skilled of landscape artisans!

Mountain climbing is not foreign to any of us, even if we have never physically donned the appropriate gear and carried the necessary burdens, we who serve the Lord, climb mountains! There are "mountains of tribulations," "mountains of joy," "mountains of surrender", "mountains of obedience" and "mountains of prayer!" There are so many mountains to scale in our daily walk with the King of the mountain, Jesus, our Lord!

The wonderful thing about climbing with God is that when He is your constant companion, you never climb alone!

He suits us in the most weatherproof gear, to protect against the storms of life and attacks of the enemy called the armor of God. (Eph. 6:11-13). He gives us our daily bread, (Matt 6: 11) and He provides water, living water, "springing up into everlasting life," (John 4:14) to replenish and refresh us! He faithfully meets all our needs as we commit our ways to Him!

Throughout Scripture, the Lord makes reference to the "ingathering" of His people, Brit Am, the people of covenant, Israel, His firstborn! We are the generation that has witnessed multitudes of Jews, from the 4 corners of the globe, migrating back to their homeland, Israel! (Making Aliyah-going up!)

So, likewise, we who are grafted in the Vine, must "make aliyah!" The higher we climb, the brighter it gets; that we may see the Sun of Righteousness with healing in His wings! (Malachi 4:2a)

Prayer:

Father, some have become weary in the climb and have slide down or backslidden and want to be restored! Restore all who call on Your Name, for Your Name is Salvation! And the faithful, Lord, hold them with Your righteous right hand, "making aliyah" together, until the time of Your coming, when all men shall see You in Your glory, in Jesus Name, Amen!
