Desperate & Daring!
by Rev. Lorraine D. Coconato
August 26, 2003

In the last days, the love of many will grow cold! (Matt. 24: 12b). This is a chilling verse, crisp with contemporary truth! Having made some desperate and daring decisions in my life without inquiring of the Holy Spirit, I have suffered much! The same syndrome is prevalent today, in the Church, where God's people are desperately seeking mates, materialism and stature. Oftentimes, they will avoid the question, "Has the Lord directed you to date this person, pursue this course or promote oneself?" Determined to define their own destiny, they desperately pursue their daring perspectives, spurning the counsel of elders and caring friends. Recall that the Lord said in the Old Testament and New, "…by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established!" This was advised by His Word to protect us from the execution of our own will that can stand in opposition to God's will.
Won't you consider today, "Am I desperate to do _________," creating my own 'god-ordained' relationships, fixating on my own imagined plan, developing my own strategy of elevation?"
This kind of living "on the fringes" will inevitably cause a tearing of the garment meant to fit and mantle a life of blessing, relational stability and security in Him! Lord, show us anything in our lives that we have desperately pursued, determined and defined without consulting You! Turn us from our own foolish "kingdom-building" to relying on Your leading, direction and effectiveness! What can we build in our desperation that will not unravel and decay? May we lean upon You and realize that Your plans are stable, secure and safe. We surrender to You, now,
Jesus, in Your Holy Name, Amen!

Verses: Zephaniah 1: 6, "Those who have turned back from following the Lord, and have not sought the Lord, nor inquired of Him."

Isaiah 55: 6, "Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon
Him while He is near."
