Burning Bush Ministries
by Rev. Lorraine D. Coconato

Familiar to all of us is the Exodus 3 passage about Moses' encounter with the burning bush. Shepherding his flock (of sheep) on the backside of the desert, Moses arrived at the mountain of God, where his feet were branded to lead the people of Israel out of a land of bondage and pagan deities.

What is it about fire that evokes such strong reactions in people's lives? When a house burns down, the displaced family is disheveled and disheartened. Blazing hillsides in the heat of summer, the work of an arsonist, cause overt damage to the land, property and people as well as the diminishment of God's beautiful handiwork. Telecasts and motion picture depictions of active warzones elicits the fear that lays dormant in our hearts.

Why do we fear that which can destroy the body and dismiss that which can destroy the soul? Moses heard and answered the call as the Lord commissioned him from a burning bush. Like his successors, Samuel and Isaiah, Moses repsonded to the call of God with these simple words, "Here I am." With this response, the Lord revealed His Covenantal Name, "I Am Who I Am," (Yhvh), the God of Israel. Have you asked yourself the question lately, "Who am I and to what am I appointed?"

Prior to this majestic encounter, Moses lived in contentment with his wife, Zipporah and his son, Gershom. His Hebrew name, "Moshe" means "drawn out," and true to the prophesy of his naming, Moses was drawn out into ministry without seeking for a ministry or looking for any sense of self-promotion. His ministry preparation was loving and caring for his family and sheep-tending, both jobs requiring endurance, vitality and wisdom. This man was clothed in greatness because he walked in a garment of meekness!

Luke 10 speaks of an incident where our Lord Jesus visited the house of Martha, a capable hostess and her sister, Mary. Verse 40a says, "But Martha was distracted with much serving..." As the hostess, she complained to the Lord that she needed her sister's help to serve. But, the Lord's response to her was (verse 41, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things." He then admonished her to become a zealous disciple, like her sister, Mary.

Many months ago, the voice of the Lord spoke these words, "Ministry for ministry's sake is empty. It is time for My sheep to visit the backside of the desert, return to the mountain of God and learn of Me. I do not desire sacrifices, but obedience. Where are My Moses' (Deliverers), Deborah's (Warriors) and Daniels (Prophets)? Oh, so busy with many things! Yet, I desire to call to them and teach them. Who will hear? Who will declare My words to the pharaohs? Who will chose to be led by My Spirit?"

He is calling forth "Burning Bush Ministries," a unified army of shepherds, warriors and prophets to lead His people out of Egypt and into the Promised Land, a land flowing in the resources of heaven, that never deplete!

Moses' son's name, Gershom, means "thrust out." Many that have been soaking up the "Son" and eating of His Word will be thrust out! There's no more time to waste! There's no more bridges to burn!

Burning Bush Ministries is not a nonprofit organization; it is a unified remnant of all the Body of Christ that bow to no other god but only the "I Am!" It is a joining together of extended, heaven-raised hands that believe that His will will be done on earth, willing warriors surrendered to the One who purifies with fire and consumes us with His love! For He is the Burning Bush and He will reduce to cinders all that is not of Him and raise up that which invokes His fire and His Holy Presence!

"Father, may we not be drafted by the breezes of the wind! But may we be drawn out by the blaze of Your glory and be prepared for the fires of revival, in the Name of the All Consuming Fire, Jesus, the Christ, Amen!"
