Raising the Word Over LA!
(Our Nation and the World)

Visiting Israel is an awe-inspiring experience for a child of God! The Word of God becomes alive in a new way as the footsteps of Jesus are re-enacted while touring the Holy City of Jerusalem and the surrounding Biblical sites! Yet with all the grandeur, historicity and splendor of all the sites, nothing impacts more than a visit to the “Wailing Wall!”

Devout men of God, many dressed in the garments of orthodoxy, mantled with a tallit (prayer shawl), daven (a gentle bowing motion, while in prayer) and whisper intensive, extensive prayers in front of a high wall, the Wailing Wall, seeking the favor of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! {Women pray at the other side of the Wall} Part of the prayer tradition of the Wall affords each prayer warrior an opportunity to insert written prayers and Scripture promises in the cracks of the wall, believing that a Loving and Living God will respond to the wailing cries and petitions of His diligent people!

Echoes of Psalm 119 come to mind when considering the potency and efficacy of God's Word being upheld in our city (nation, the world!), building a wall of fortification round-about!

“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.” (Psalm 119: 1). “Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart.” (verse 2).

While the majority of the world is seeking their “daily high”and self-gratification in temporal things, the Lord speaks of the true joy that can only be sustained by walking in His way, keeping His precepts and seeking Him wholeheartedly! There is no other recipe for enduring happiness than living in the luxury of divine purpose!

It is no secret that the film industry is indigenous to Los Angeles. All that God creates is good and I believe that it was His intention that the motion picture industry and media community would be a reflection of Biblical values that would promote healthy relationships and prosperous lives! The people who write, produce, direct and act in movies and television are “called” to be representatives of the virtues that God calls “good,” faith, hope and love (1 Corinthians 13: 13), the greatest being “love” as God is Love!

Some of the most well-known and recognized directors, actors, and film creators are prophetically-gifted but have not yet engaged with a “divine encounter of the greatest kind!” (Faith in Jesus as Messiah and Lord!) {But, prayer is changing this! The Lord loves the celebrities of Hollywood and His love never fails!}

Several years ago, a missionary relayed this story: Upon arriving on a remote island, the mission team encountered a man living in isolation for many years. The missionaries offered him a Bible and his response was, “I like to roll cigarettes and I do not have paper. I will accept this Bible if I can use the pages to roll into cigarettes.” One quick thinker replied, “Sir, you may have the Bible and do as you please, if you promise to do one thing first. First, read the page and then you can use it to roll your cigarettes.” The islander agreed. The missionaries shared, “This man gave his heart to the Lord, because God's Word is

all powerful and never returns void!” This true testimony exemplifies the omnipotence of God's Word! Truth will permeate even when man cocoons himself in a smokescreen!

Yes, smoke, smog and varied pollutants hover over our city! (your city, our Nation!) But, I can't help but believe that the declaration and proclamation of His Word over our streets, neighborhoods, cities and extended territories will perform a spiritual “street-cleaning!” Can we not build a “Wailing Wall” around our city/cities/nation, praying His Word over our territories, inserting small scrolls of prophetic promises into crevices, cracks and breaches?

Our city (your city!) may be scrolled with violence, pornography and fantasy, but this is the season to re-scroll our land with divine proclamations, heavenly declarations, raising the Word over our city!

Psalm 119: 89-91 says, “Forever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth and it abides. They continue this day according to Your ordinances, for all are Your servants.” May our proclamations unsettle, dismantle and dislodge all that has been spoken that is not of the Lord!

Head for the hills, the valleys, the alleys, the high and low places of our region! Prophesy the Word over these territories, lift up praises, exalt the Name of the Highest over our land! As a skywriter (airplane) writes a message for all to see, let us “sky-write,” speaking into the atmosphere the Creative Word of the Living God and leave a trail of blessing behind…

Father, we lift up the Word over Los Angeles (your city) this day! We ask You, Lord, as we pray, proclaim, declare Your truths over our City, that You will build a “spiritual” Wailing Wall in this city, that You will perform Your Word in LA! (your city). Many have tried to build a smokescreen with false precepts and unrighteous standards, but, we ask You, Lord to intervene and re-scroll the heavenlies of our city with the Living Word that breathes life, wellness and peace to our city! Hear our cry, O Lord, and fortify Los Angeles (your city) with a wall of redemption, a bulwark of salvation and a tower of praise, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
